Starting June 28, the annual event Katwijk En Plein Air took place . Sixteen professional painters worked for a week in and around Katwijk in the open air. At the end of the week the paintings will be shown and offered for sale.
The DUNAatelier is situated in a dune pan next to the Boulevard and opposite the old Lighthouse. Artists who wanted to paint the sea, the dunes or the beach did not have to make a long search. Others went into the villages (Katwijk consists of three villages : Katwijk, Rijnsburg and Valkenburg) where they found nice places to paint.
This year mostly Dutch painters worked in a varied way. Two English painters and one from Germany joined them. Some concentrated on color , others searched for line or beauty. Also their technique varies , from oil to acrylic to pencil , pastel and chalk .
The Exhibition “Katwijk En Plein Air, painting by the sea” starts July 6 and can be visited till September 29. The DUNAatelier will be open Tuesday till Sunday in the afternoon 14 till 17. When the weather is good, also in the evening between 17 and 21 ours. Free entrance
