The first concert in new composition will take place on Sunday 19 November from 16.00-17.00 in the Dorpskerk in Voorschoten. The theme is Evening Music and suits this time of year particularly well. Quiet, wistful, hopeful and, above all, beautiful in sound. With five-, six- or even eight-part pieces, the choir manages to move the listener time and again. This is because of the focus on sound that this choir pursues. The oldest work is the cantata Gott, hilf mir by Dietrich Buxtehude. Of course, Romantic composers like Johannes Brahms (Abendständchen, Nachtwache I and II), Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (Denn er hat seinen Engeln) and Josef Rheinberger (Abendlied) are not missing. They composed tuneful music about man in relation to nature, old stories and spirituality. Often to texts by poets of the time. But the beautiful Stars - 'myriads of beating hearts of fire' - by Latvian composer Eriks Esenvalds (born 1977) will also be heard this afternoon.

The concert is part of the walk-in concerts series of the Dorpskerk in Voorschoten.
Admission to these concerts is free, a voluntary contribution at the exit is greatly appreciated.
