Markets Throughout the City
There are several different markets in Leiden, and all of them are definitely worth a visit!
1. Market in the city centre, every Saturday: General commodity market goods, around thirty fruit and vegetable stalls, fresh fish and many terraces with a view of the canals and market. The market can be visited from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
2. Market near the Luifelbaan Shopping Centre, every Tuesday morning: All general commodity market goods can be found on this market from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
3. Market at the Aalmarkt, every Wednesday: great commodities and farmers market with healthy ecological products. The market is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
4. The Stevensbloem market shopping center, great general market every Thursday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
5. Kopermolen shopping center market, every Friday. General goods and fresh produce. The market is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The “Pieterskerk” Area in the City Centre of Leiden
Probably one of the best and most dynamic areas in Leiden is the Pieterskerk area including the Pieterskerk Choorsteeg. With many specialised shops from antiques and books to jewellery and fashion, but also pottery, toys, tailormade suits and Italian delicacies. You will also find various beauty and hairdressing salons, cafés serving homemade baked goods, intimate eateries and cosy restaurants. Amongst the many business in this area, you can also find beautiful churches, courtyards, museums and galleries.
This historic neighbourhood around the Pieterskerk, with its many narrow streets and alleyways is also called the Latin quarter of Leiden. Many students live here, which is being reflected in the many student houses and the rows and rows of bicycles everywhere. Walking along the Rapenburg street you will pass the Leiden University Law Faculty, the Hortus Botanicus botanical garden, the National Museum of Antiquities and the Japan museum Sieboldhuis. The Pieterskerk area covers so many fields of interest making it a must-see area for everyone visiting of living in Leiden!

In addition, there are products for sale with a beautiful story: behind them. For example, they sell felt products that are made by hand in Nepal. By doing so, Dille & Kamille want to contribute to improve the conditions there. "
