A move is always hectic, and along with it come many formalities that must be taken care of. The full list of things to do depends on your nationality, place of birth, family, and sometimes on your employer's choice of work permit. Whichever route you choose, thorough preparation is essential. Be aware that;
- Moving to a new country involves bureaucracy, the Netherlands is no exception to this.
- Some Dutch rules and procedures will be different from those in your home country.
- Time will be needed to attend meetings with Dutch organisations. Insure that documents are prepared well ahead of time for these meetings.
- Information is often only in Dutch.
Depending on your country of origin, you may need an entry visa, a work permit, and a residence permit. You will also need to register in the Personal Records Database to obtain a Citizen Service Number (Burgerservicenummer - BSN).
