Banking in the Netherlands
The starting point for banking is to open a bank account in the Netherlands. The Dutch government, local municipalities and most employers prefer you to have a Dutch bank account in order to facilitate financial transfers. Furthermore, having a bank account in the Netherlands allows you to make use of systems such as iDEAL.
To open a bank account in the Netherlands you will need to visit a bank office with the following documents: Valid ID, Proof of address (your rental contract or a recent utility bill should be sufficient). Some banks also like to see proof of regular income such as a pay slip or contract.
