Once you are in the Netherlands, you will want to arrange your banking affairs. On this page you can find information on what to take with you when you apply for a bank account, what services there are, and what to do when your card is stolen.

To open a bank account in the Netherlands you will need to visit a bank and bring along the following documents:

  • Valid ID
  • Proof of address (your rental agreement or a recent utility bill should be sufficient)
  • Some banks also require proof of regular income such as a pay slip or contract

The Dutch government, local municipalities, and most employers prefer you to have a Dutch bank for financial transactions.
