Rijnlands Lyceum Wassenaar Opens International School
In September 2019, the Rijnlands Lyceum Wassenaar will open its doors to international students. The new school will be called the ‘International School Wassenaar – Rijnlands Lyceum’
The International School Wassenaar will be formed as part of the Rijnlands Lyceum Wassenaar. Therefore, it will be possible for expat students to follow international education in the context of a Dutch high school. Expat children will, as such, be part of the local community.
The International School Wassenaar will deliver the IB-Middle Years Programme (MYP) which is an international educational programme for students between 11-16 years of age. After studying the MYP programme, students progress onto the full International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma programme. This is a two-year course which ends with examinations which are applicable for entry into university.
The Rijnlands Lyceum group of schools has much experience with international education. The Rijnlands Lyceum Oestgeest and the International School of The Hague both offer the IB programme, while the European School of The Hague, which is part of the Rijnlands Lyceum group, delivers the European Baccalaureate.
The Rijnlands Lyceum Wassenaar is a Dutch secondary school which delivers high-quality education to approximately 800 students. The school is beautifully situated in the heart of Wassenaar and has excellent facilities. For the Rijnlands Lyceum Wassenaar, the addition of international education is a logical step. The school has for many years given bilingual education and offers near-native language programmes for English (IB), French and German. Recently, the school has introduced the exam subject of Chinese Language and Culture. The students are active members of the Model United Nations, Model European Parliament, Public Speaking and the exchange programme.
The Rijnlands Lyceum Wassenaar is in a strong position to offer international education. Firstly, the Rijnlands Lyceum has earned the license to give international education. Secondly, the school has been awarded the highest possible accreditation by the inspection team of the Dutch Ministry of Education. In addition, the Rijnlands Lyceum Wassenaar is listed as one of the ‘Excellent Schools’ in the Netherlands.
The founding of The International School Wassenaar marks an exciting phase in the development of the Rijnlands Lyceum. Together with the students, parents and staff, we look forward to building a rich and engaging international learning community.
