Cellist Natalia Gutman is one of the remaining artists of the golden generation of Russian music. With Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Natalia Gutman will perform the ‘First Cello Concert’ by Saint Saëns, followed by Ravel, an interpretation of Kurtág’s miniatures and Beethoven. In his time, most symphonies were performed without a director, and so, Amsterdam Sinfonietta will perform Beethovens wondrous ‘Eighth Symphony’ in the same manner. This brief, humourous symphony was often referred to by Beethoven himself as “My Little Symphony in F”.
